Riot to ban players who queue with cheaters in VALORANT
Matt “K3o” Paoletti, the anti-cheat analyst over at Riot Games, gave a little more information in a developer post on the VALORANT website. “We’ve worked to make cheating difficult and expensive, and as a result, the percentage of games with a cheater is a fraction of a percent. We saw that some players also looked to bask in the ill-gotten gains of cheaters by teaming with them—knowing that the cheater would get banned after a few games, but they would get to reap the rewards.”
To crack down on this as season 2 progresses, Paoletti proposed some solutions Riot Games will be implementing. These include a 90-day penalty for teaming with cheaters, re-calibration of rank for those affected by cheaters and meta-game system updates which includes a Ranked overhaul. “the lessons we’ve learned and the community feedback and in-game reports we’ve received have been invaluable and will continue to empower us,” Paoletti says. “Cheaters, sadly, will always exist, but cheaters never prosper.”
Earlier this week one of the highest ranked players in North America, under the name “ReFelcktions”, received a ban for cheating. He was ranked in seventh place on the leaderboards and due to the ban won’t be able to play VALORANT on his current pc.
