Rise battle their way into the NA LCQ Grand Finals after a thrilling series versus 100 Thieves

Despite countless technical and logistic issues, the North American Last Chance Qualifiers have continued on and found their first grand finalist. Rise have been one of the biggest surprises this tournament, battling their way through a tough bracket. After dropping FaZe and Cloud9 to the lower bracket, the Rise squad defeated Masters Berlin representatives in 100 Thieves.

Cloud9 and Xset will play tomorrow to see who will take on 100 Thieves in the lower bracket finals. Both 100 Thieves and Cloud9 have shown incredible prowess as a squad, however both of these teams will possibly have to take on Rise for a second time.

On the Rise, how 100 Thieves were upset

All three matches of this series were played on a knife’s edge, each team within just mere rounds of the lead. Rise took an early advantage on Breeze, coming back from a 7-5 deficit to claim the first game.

100 Thieves quickly retailed by taking Rise’s map pick. The 100 Thieves squad maintained a healthy lead throughout the game on Ascent. The team’s constant duelist presence in Asuna had another stand out performance on Reina, finding 21 kills and 139.5 ADR.

In a final thriller on Haven, Rise claimed the series 11-13. Once again trailing at the half, Poised led the comeback effort for Rise. With 21 kills and 155.7 ADR, the team locked in their spot in the grand finals. Once only an after thought, Rise are now on the precipice of representing North America in the biggest stage in VALORANT history.

Meanwhile, 100 Thieves are down but not out. This is surely a big hit for the organization, however there is still a path back to the top. They must await the winner of Cloud9 and Xset before potentially getting another shot at Rise.
