Sentinels sweep Version1, claim second VCT Challengers title

Sentinels once again stand alone at the top of NA VALORANT, dominating Version1 in a 3-game series.

In the final game of the qualifying Challengers series, Sentinels emerged with top NA seed for Masters Reykjavik. Though Version1 fell flat in the final hurdle, their respectable performance in the VCT Challengers earned them their second spot.

TenZ and friends dominate the series

Sentinel’s constant loaned fragging presence, Tyson “Ngo” Ngo, had an incredible performance across the series. TenZ ended the series with a 1.39 KD (61 total frags), 202 ADR, and a 266 ACS, showing just how influence TenZ’s duelists had on a round to round basis. With countless highlight reel worthy plays, TenZ opened most of Sentinel’s opportunities.

Alongside TenZ, Michael “Dapr” Gulino similarly had an impressive series and showed unprecedented Agent diversity when compared to his near constant presence on Cypher. IGL Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan had a standout performance on Icebox as he ended the single map with 31 total frags.

Sentinels and V1 experiment

Perhaps because this game had no implications on Masters qualifications, only seeding, both teams showed a willingness to experiment. As stated before, Dapr had impressive showing on Viper while Anthony “Vanity” Malaspina had less than stellar results on his unique Yoru pick.

Sentinels also showed promise on their worst map, first picking Bind (where they only hold a 53% round win rate) and actually showing impressive improvements on the map. Ultimately, this may not have been the most competitive series, but Sentinels and Version1’s performances in this rather low-pressure finals matchup may have put them on the right foot entering into their first international competitions.
