It looks like streamer and veteran Smash player Joseph “Mang0” Marquez is the latest to receive a ban from Twitch, which he received for ‘sexual content’.
The ban was announced yesterday, by Mang0 himself. While the reason behind the ban is not known, a lot of fans have speculated that a recent clip is to blame, which sees Mang0 comically humping an anime figurine. The VOD would later be deleted. Mang0 would go on to comment on the ban on Twitter, calling it a “fucking joke”, while pointing out the recent rise in ‘hot tub streams’ in contrast to his ban for sexual content.
Twitch has been known to step up the amount of bans they’ve dealt out over the past couple of months, with a lot of viewers often questioning the ethics or morals behind those bans. Many have accused Twitch of having a double standard, favoring some streamers over others. It’s not the first time Twitch has made the news recently, as they also banned popular streamer and YouTube personality Ryan “Nigahiga” Higa from their platform for a short time. Twitch eventually reversed the decision and informed Higa they ‘made a mistake’.
As the ban will only last three days, Mang0 will be allowed to stream on Twitch again starting April 1.
