T1 VALORANT announces departure of Brax and AZK

In a rather unexpected announcement, T1 VALORANT confirmed they’ll be parting ways with their players Braxton “Brax” Pierce and Keven “AZK” Larivière.

T1 has confirmed they’ll be releasing both players from their VALORANT team. Brax was the first signing the organization brought in back when the game was still in closed beta. AZK was brought in to help establish the roster only a month later, with both players sharing a history in iBuyPower during their time in CS:GO. Following a ban by Valve after a match fixing scandal, both players decided to make the jump to VALORANT and leave CS:GO behind.

The announcement of their departure comes days after T1 signed a new player in the form of former CS:GO professional player Timothy “autimatic” Ta. As both AZK and Brax leave the roster, there’s now a spot available to be filled in. It’s currently unclear what player T1 is looking to pursue to fill the void and possibly improve the roster.

It’s been tough for T1 VALORANT, who haven’t really found their footing again within the VALORANT scene despite entering early and doing well. Recently they participated in NA First Strike where they were handily defeated by 100 Thieves. Despite participating in the Open Qualifiers for NA Challengers Stage 1, they got knocked out in the round of 16, missing out on a coveted spot.
