Team Liquid lock in ESL Pro League playoff spot – Can NIP make the cut?
With one more day left in the ESL Pro League group stage, the only remaining playoff spot hangs in the balance. The top of the standings were clearly set out from day one. Both Gambit and Team Liquid locked in their top spots early on. Though TL could still fall to third place seeding, the top two are looking strong before their playoffs run. A grudge match between Furia and NIP will confirm the last spot.
Will Furia or NIP make the cut?
Furia and NIP met earlier today, and ultimately resulted in a win for the Brazilian squad. Recently, Furia subbed out Paytyn “Junior” Johnson with Nicholas “guerri” Nogueira, usual coach for the team. Gurri had an absolute killer performance with his team today, as he put up some incredible plays on both Ancient and Mirage to finish out the series 2-1.
Unfortunately for Furia, they are still technically behind in the playoffs race. Despite beating out their main competition, Furia is still behind in total map wins. NIP will face a much more threatening team to close out their group stage. Gambit has led the group in total wins and looked incredibly strong. Meanwhile, Furia will face Team Liquid.
24 teams in #ESLProLeague and one playoff spot remains.
It all comes down to the final day of group D.@FURIA or @NIPCS
Though Team Liquid are a formidable team, they are a team Furia are quite comfortable against. Should Furia outright win and NIP lose, they clinch the final spot. Even if they both lose, but Furia manage more map wins, the Brazilian squad will also advance. The pressure seems to be on NIP to perform against one of the best squads in CS:GO this year.
