Team Liquid’s Nivera tests positive for COVID-19 but will still play at Champions
Upcomer reported that Nabil “Nivera” Benrlitom has tested positive for COVID-19. Team Liquid’s newest member allegedly contracted COVID several weeks prior to the event but has since recovered from the virus.
For some clarification:
– Yes, Nivera is playing for Liquid during the event. – Nivera will not be playing in the arena because he has to isolate in accordance with Germany's rules. – The event is still on LAN; Nivera will still play on the same ping etc like normal.
Nivera’s recovery from the COVID-19 virus will still allow him to play in the upcoming VCT Champions event. This climatic event will crown the first VALORANT World Champion after the inaugural VALORANT Champions Tour. Germany has recently spiked once again with COVID cases, and Nivera’s contraction of the virus comes after the required quarantine period instated by the tournament.
Nivera is the newest member of the Team Liquid VALORANT roster. Formerly a substitute player for Team Vitality in CS:GO, the Belgian FPS player joined his brother, ScreaM, in VALORANT on Team Liquid. While still relatively new in Riot’s tactical shooter, Nivera has already met the new challenge head on. Ever since adding Nivera to the roster, Team Liquid have not dropped a single game and have appeared as one of the favorites coming out of the EMEA region. Only a VALORANT pro for several months, Nivera will compete in the final international tournament of the year.
The final international event of the year will see 16 teams compete for the first VALORANT World title. Put in Group B, Team Liquid will lead off against KRU where they will face either Sentinels or Furia should they win this first game. Riot Games has declined to comment on the situation surrounding Nivera’s COVID-19 case. As it stands, Nivera will start come VCT Champions.
