Team Nigma pairs up with Etihad Airways

Team Nigma and Etihad Airways have started a “landmark partnership”. Thus KuroKy & Co are now the first esport team with a major premium airline as sponsor. Following the announcement of Nigma’s relocation to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the end of March, the Dota 2 team continues to deepen their presence in the Middle East.

While an airline sponsorship seems out of the blue, it is in line with Etihad’s engagement in other sports as well such as Manchester City in Football or their sponsorship of the Formula 1 race in Abu Dhabi. With the majority of Nigma’s players having roots in the region the partnership does not seem that surprising after the earlier announced participation in the UAE’s governmental AD Gaming initiative.

Regardless of the circumstances Etihad Airways is a major global brand that has now taken in interest in Dota.

Nigma is currently competing in the European region of the Dota Pro Circuit, but has hosted community events for the Middle East in the past.
