Team Vitality’s apEX returns in time for IEM Katowice

UPDATED: apEX will return to the active lineup for IEM Katowice. He will once again lead Team Vitality in their matchup against OG.

Team Vitality announced good news for their fans through Twitter. Their CS:GO-squad’s captain Dan “apEX” Madesclaire returns to the active lineup just in time for their groupstage debut at IEM Katowice 2021.

After their disappointing performance at BLAST Spring, it will be reassuring to Vitality fans that apEX will be back for Katowice.

Their match against OG in Group B is scheduled for 19:00 CET.

Original article from February 9:

In a post on Twitter, French side Team Vitality have announced that their captain Dan “apEX” Madesclaire will not be playing during BLAST Spring Premier.

Personal reasons for apEX

In their statement coach Rémy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam stated several reasons for the surprising break. Among them were the stream sniping accusations earlier this year as well as the strains due to the ongoing pandemic. However key factor for the break were personal reasons that added to the strain on apEX.

While Vitality hope that apEX will be back after BLAST Spring Premier, they have also said that his break “will be extended if necessary, to respect his well-being and to ensure he comes back refreshed and in full control of his craft.”

Vitality’s first match without their captain will be the lower bracket match against Evil Geniuses at BLAST Premier Spring, after the French team were handily beaten by complexity in the opening match.
