The LCS is getting its own ‘Super Server’ according to Riot Games, more focus on infrastructure

Riot Games is looking to launch a ‘super server’ on the West coast for the 2022 LCS Season, finally meeting some demands players and fans have set for the quality of practice and solo queue. “It will be called Champions Queue and it is an exclusive matchmaking system which is hosted on a West coast server, accessible only to high-skill players serious about improvement.” More information should be coming in the upcoming months.

One of the biggest issues a lot of professional players in North America face is high ping, which hinders their progress and makes training and practice a lot harder. Professional players or coaches such as Doublelift and Mithy have been very vocal about the issue, especially following the latest edition of Worlds, with Riot Games now offering up a potential solution.

The new server isn’t the only thing Riot Games will be putting more work towards. They also announced that more funds and effort will be going towards Proving Grounds and more Amateur tournaments as they look to increase the infrastructure in North America to nurture more native talent and give more players a shot at growing and getting the practice and experience necessary.
