The NA TI10 Qualifiers – Can Team Undying lock it in?

While the North-American parents, Evil Geniuses and Quincy Crew are gone, it’s the mice who will dance on the table. But what mice will be the biggest one and join their parents at TI10?
The obvious choice

Looking at previous results there is one team that seems to be on cut above the rest. Team Undying has placed third in both of the previous DPC seasons post lockdown. Furthermore the team contains some very recognizable names, who bring all the necessary experience and skill a top level team requires. Led by the legendary korean Kim “DuBu” Doo-young, who has already gotten himself into three different TI’s before this, they are poised to make this his fourth.

However, being the favorite can be a giant drawback in the world of professional Dota 2. Every team will likely be targeting the squad and seeking out any weaknesses in their play. And when they are suddenly figured out, and can’t make the predictions come through there might be another team who makes it instead.

Sunsfanning into TI

A squad worthy of the legendary “USA” chant is that of 4 Zoomers. Five different players all from the United States this team might make an unexpected run. Especially with the support Sunsfan has granted them with his legendary voice lines the 4 Zoomers supporter pack. They might even take some of his strategies with them and Sunsfan themselves into TI through some unexpected shenanigans.

Envy

For many years now the ever entertaining presence of Jacky “EternaLEnVy” Mao has been stuck in the lower echelons of competitive Dota 2. But this finally might be his year where he once again returns to the highest stage in the form of TI10. Supported by some very skillful players like Danylo “Kingrd” Nascimento and Zakari William Lee “Zfreek” Freedman it might finally happen. As long as Kyle keeps his mouth shut, and doesn’t curse his little brother’s team.

Coming from the bottom

Every team highlighted so far has come from the North American upper division, but one shouldn’t forget about the talent that exists below. The D2 Hustlers have plowed through the open qualifiers with ease months ago, only to do the same again in the lower division and acquire themselves a first place finish. While this team is yet to compete with the top of the North-American competition, this might be the exact blessing they need. This unfamiliar dark horse just might be the team that upsets the entire qualifiers, and captures the hearts of the spectators. As a legendary name like “Davai Lama” is suddenly to be seen at the 10th International of Dota 2 history.

North American Throws

Like any qualifier though, only time will tell who will come out on top. While all teams we highlighted have good shot, there are many more who could just as well reach the top. Never underestimate the North American Dota 2 scene if it comes down to reaching the highest highs, and the lowest lows at the same time. The only thing we know for sure, is that these qualifiers will be hella entertaining like always.
