The Rainbow Six Invitational 2021 – What you need to know
Fans of Rainbow Six can be happy, because we’re getting a Six Invitational 2021 despite the current COVID-19 pandemic. The event will even be played on LAN, this time in Paris instead of Montreal, and start on February 9.
The Rainbow Six Invitational 2021 will not feature an audience and only the players and coach of the teams will be present, limiting the number to six. It’s the first Rainbow Six event to be played on LAN since the COVID-19 pandemic has started. A total of 20 teams hailing from 4 regions will participate in the event.
For its fifth edition, the #SixInvitational will be held in Paris, France!
The teams will be put into two round-robin groups of ten teams each, with all matches being best-of-three. The same goes for the play-off matches, with just the Grand Final being a best-of-five. The top eight of each group moves on to playoffs, with the top four being put in the upper bracket while place 5 to 8 gets put in the lower bracket. As far as the prize pool for the event is concerned, it’s still up in the air. The minimum prize pool of 500.000 dollars will increase depending on the revenue gained by the 2021 Battle Pass, with 30% of it going to the prize pool, capped at 3.000.000 dollars.
Fans will be happy to see Rainbow Six esports in all its glory once more, as it has been a hard year for the scene in general, with Ubisoft making several impactful changes to some regions while some of the biggest teams decided to leave the scene. The event will kick off on February 9 and runs until February 21.
