These three LEC teams remain – Who will take the title?
After their series against Rogue it’s almost undeniable that MAD Lions is on track to secure their second LEC title. They completely choked out Rogue in almost every way imaginable and seemingly countered their playstyle at every turn. They are possibly the best teamfighting team in the LEC right now and are comfortable when ahead as well as in a deficit, showing great tenacity.
The most amount of star power radiates from their jungle-mid duo in the form of Elyoya and Humanoid. Both have consistently stepped up when it matters, with Elyoya having matured as a player and being a consistent force on the map, while Humanoid almost never fails in lane and is very comfortable on the scaling picks. The MAD Lions bot lane is always a threat as well and if Armut can keep up the form he showed against Rogue, it’s difficult to imagine a world where they can be beaten.
Rogue – So close to greatness
A dominant force in the regular season, Rogue hasn’t had the greatest of showing in the LEC playoffs so far. After a very tight best-of-five against Misfits Gaming, they got completely swept by MAD Lions. This isn’t to say they’re not in the running for the title anymore, because they very much are, but their problems are very clear and it seems other teams are getting more effective at dealing with it.
‘Rogue Time’ remains a problem for the squad, who have difficulty keeping a firm grasp on the game once the mid game starts, and they’ve thrown away a lead multiple times. While they’ve got arguably the best jungler in Inspired and individually talented players, some synergy issues are present. Time is running out to find a fix.
Fnatic – The Dark Horse
Eliminating G2 Esports, regardless of their current form, is always quite the feat and Fnatic pulled it off. Out of the three remaining teams Fnatic might very well be the most interesting one, as they’re an interesting blend of veteran talent, a player that’s looking for glory after being written off (Upset) and one of the most promising rookies in all of the LEC right now (Adam).
While their early game is stellar and is the reason for most of their victories, they do tend to be a tad bit overaggressive when all they need to do is firmly choke out the enemy team. It comes with the territory however, as players such as Bwipo, Hylissang (and now also Adam) are known for their keep-on-pushing mentality. Fnatic’s problem is most often themselves, being prone to throwing away games that are basically won. Yet as they’ve shown against G2 Esports, they’re evolving and growing past that, which might spell trouble for Rogue in their next match and potentially for MAD Lions as well.
