Hasan’s Twitch account found itself banned on the evening of December 13, marking his third ban on the platform. During the final stream before the ban Hasan was watching clips and commenting on them. Following the ban Hasan took to Twitter to speculate on the reason behind the ban. “Yes. it is for exactly what you think it is. Anti-white racism for using the term ‘cracker’.”
The use of the word has been a hotly debated topic, not only on Twitch but on Hasan’s channel as well. He went on to say he doesn’t think the word is a racial slur and that people should stop treating it as such. “It’s not a slur. Recognize the person who’s calling you a ******* cracker is literally powerless. Sorry, it’s just the truth.” Earlier on, two of his moderators were already banned for use of the word. “Absolutely insane that twitch banned two of my mods for using the word cracker. One is black and the other is brown. Does twitch actually believe ‘cracker’ is a slur?”
Hasan is no stranger to controversy on Twitch, as he does not shy away from debating sensitive topics during his streams. He’s also one of the biggest streamers on Twitch, regularly pulling in tens of thousands of viewers and boasting over 1.6 million followers.
