Twitch streamers and fans call out racism and hate raids with #TwitchDoBetter

Most of the outrage started when black content creators were targeted by hate raids and bots, spamming their chat with racist comments and foul language. Aside from those they also received numerous follower bots and other forms of harassment. Many took to Twitch to voice their concerns with how Twitch is handling this ‘hateful conduct’ specified in the guidelines, while telling their stories.

One of the targets was Apex Legends streamer Solo, who decided to speak out on Twitter after he got follow botted and raided by bots who spammed hateful, racist messages. This sparked a lot of discussion about the platform, with multiple other streamers coming out to say they faced similar kinds of harassment lately and want Twitch to step up.

It’s not the first time Twitch has been called out for similar issues. In the past they’ve also faced criticism for banning streamers and not disclosing the reasoning behind doing so, while others have criticized Twitch for how they’ve been handling certain situations and certain types of content on the platform, more specifically certain ASMR streams and hot tub streaming. As for now Twitch hasn’t come out to say anything about the #TwitchDoBetter.
