Ubisoft postpones Rainbow Six Invitational 2021

The biggest Rainbow Six Siege event of the year, the Six Invitational, has been postponed due to the ongoing pandemic.

The safety and hygienic standards set by Ubisoft to keep the event safe were unfortunately not enough to convince the authorities to let the event continue. With the French border closing for all non-European travellers, rumours were already spreading that the event might be postponed. With the number of infections rising again in France, the government decided more strict measures were needed. Ubisoft and their partner Live Nation were still trying to get an exemption for their event however, yet their efforts were unfortunately in vain.

Ubisoft has decided to postpone the event for now, yet an exact date or guestimate has not been given yet, meaning the teams and fans are currently unsure if and when the event will now take place. The publisher is of course hoping they can have the event later this year in a physical location, as online play would not be fair for most teams as the server locations could not ensure competitive integrity with such a global playing field.

This does of course mean that fans have to wait just that little bit longer before they can watch their favourite esports at the highest level again, as the regional leagues are yet to announce their new starting dates and schedule.
