Upset and Fnatic officials give statement on Worlds 2021 departure
Earlier this week, former Fnatic toplaner Adam gave an extensive statement on both his departure from the team and their Worlds 2021 performances. Adam claimed that Upset abandoned the team’s Worlds run to be with his wife. Since this initial drama outbreak, Upset has issued his second statement regarding the situation.
The German ADC condemned that harsh backlash he has seen since Adam’s first Twitlonger. “It’s been incredibly hurtful to see the hateful and targeted response from fans toward me and my wife” Upset wrote. The Fnatic player remarked on the decision to return home after “a severe personal situation which required my immediate attention.”
Upset specifically mentioned that he asked that the details of the situation remain private. Upset did not clarify what exactly this sudden situation was but stated “Some things are just so awful that they warrant this level of confidentiality, and I never have or ever will violate the privacy of my loved ones.”
Upset expressed that he is still incredible proud and excited to be a part of Fnatic going into the 2022 season. Though the ADC is taking a break until competition resumes in Spring, he stated that he is looking forward to his return to the LEC stage.
Fnatic’s League of Legends director Javier “Dardo” Zafra chimed on the situation. Dardo stated that the entire team supported Upset’s decision to return home. Dardo also condemned the vitriolic messages targeted toward Upset by writing “It has been sad to see people speculating over someone who has had to go through such a difficult experience.” Dardo urged fans to respect Upset’s privacy.
