Valve makes changes to RMR system, announces sticker capsules
First of all, all RMR points are reset for the 2021 season. However, to acknowledge the efforts of the best-performing teams in the past year, the 2020 RMR legends will start out with 600 points, while the Challengers start with 300 and contenders with 100 points. Alongside all this, teams will now be able to list a substitute player apart from their coach.
Today we’re shipping 2020 RMR team stickers, available now in Legends, Contenders, and Challengers capsules. We also have updates on 2021 RMR events and coaching: https://t.co/d7aOajgapFpic.twitter.com/QdOypVTQzI
Despite their not being a Major in the past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Valve does want to acknowledge the hard work and results of the best teams in the world. They announced 2020 CS:GO RMR capsules, which features stickers of the teams that would have norammy gotten invitations to the 2020 Fall Major. Of the proceeds, 50% will be going to the teams.
For the upcoming Major, there’ll be no Minors, Valve explained. “Regional Major Rankings will be used to determine all 24 invitations. There will not be a separate path for teams to qualify. All teams participating in the next Major will earn their invites through regional rankings, which will be updated based on their performance in upcoming Regional Major Ranking competitions.”
