Vitality destroyed by compLexity in group B of BLAST Premier Spring 2021 – What happened?

Despite Vitality being the second best team in the world according to HLTV they seem to be in a slump, as they’ve been defeated by compLexity in Group B of BLAST Premier Spring 2021.

Things took a turn for the worse yesterday as Vitality lost against Complexity quite badly and were instantly kicked to the lower bracket. The first map pick was a very logical one from Complexity. With them choosing Mirage, there was a big chance of them taking advantage of one of Vitality’s weaker maps. Vitality was of course able to choose what side they wanted to start on and managed to have a really good 10-5 halftime in their favour, with Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut of course topping the charts for his team. Yet their T-side was incredibly disappointing, winning just a single round against the 11 from Complexity.

Bad day for ZywOo

Overpass was the pick of Vitality, a historically strong map of theirs. Things got turned on its head however, with Complexity again doing really well on their CT-side. 13-2 Was the score after the first 15 rounds and it seemed as if Vitality was already out of it. A won pistol round turned into the mere three rounds Complexity needed to close the map and the series. The big factor in this map might have been the opening kills really going in favour of Complexity, winning 14 out of the 18 opening duels. Apart from that it has to be said that ZywOo, usually the most important player of Vitality, had his lowest rating ever in a competitive match with 0.28.
