What to expect from Summer Games Done Quick 2020

Awesome Games Done Quick is back for their summer edition in what has become a tradition of sorts. For a whole week, some of the best speedrunners in the world try their hand at speedrunning a game live while gathering money for charity.

All the proceeds of the livestream goes to Doctors Without Borders, who’ll most likely use the money to fight the COVID-19 pandemic. Normally the livestream would take place in June but thanks to the aforementioned pandemic the schedule had to be rearranged slightly and the whole event was moved to August. You can watch the livestream until August 23, when it’s scheduled to end.

Summer Games Done Quick features a large list of games and a lot of big names in the speedrunning community, which means the livestream certainly has a game for everyone. Some of the notable speedruns are ‘Zelda II: The Adventure of Link’ by Skybilz, a ‘Hollow Knight’ speedrun by Fireb0rn and Pestilentbox2 and a playthrough of ‘Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ by Rakaru and WoodenBarrel.

Another very interesting speedrun is the one being done by Squint on Sunday, where he’ll attempt to speedrun the target practice in ‘Super Smash Bros 64’ with all the characters available in the game. To make things even more interesting, he’ll be attempting to do it blindfolded. If you want to take a look at the full schedule which includes all games and streamers in your timezone, you’ll find it here.
