As the open beta for new Battle Royale game ‘Naraka: Bladepoint’ launched this week, over 120.000 players already tried it out.
‘Naraka: Bladepoint’ is an interesting and different take on the Battle Royale genre, which sees you and 59 other players fight on an Asian-themed battlefield called Morus Island. The game puts a lot more focus on movement and parkour, while boasting primarily melee and some ranged weapons. Aside from those weapons, the game also allows you to transform to fight your enemies alongside other powerful abilities if certain conditions are met.
The game itself offers a lot when it comes to melee combat, often resembling more traditional fighting games featuring flurries of attacks and counters, which add depth to the combat system. Heroes also have individual abilities and unique ultimates which add further strategy and depth to the game. Movement is also extremely smooth while still maintaining a level of skill, ensuring another layer of skill expression.
The game is still free to try out until this evening (26/04) and reception up until now has been quite positive, with a lot of people appreciating the change in style from the more traditional Battle Royale games they’ve become accustomed to. It’ll be interesting to see if ‘Naraka: Bladepoint’ can become the next big Battle Royale game but it has certainly piqued the interest of many.
