Worlds 2021 to Europe – which countries and cities could host the matches?

One of the most obvious locations for the upcoming Worlds 2021 matches is Berlin. Berlin houses the LEC studio and infrastructure, which might make things easier. The LEC has also already proven it’s capable of running offline matches throughout the regular season and playoffs and has solid COVID measures in place, it’s a good bet there’ll be Worlds matches played in Berlin.

The last time Worlds was played in Europe was 2019, with Paris being the final stop. With it being a central location within Europe, there’s a good chance we’d get more games in the French capital. With the country opening up more and more, with the COVID-pass as the biggest solution, it might be the ideal location.

As the Netherlands has also been banking on the COVID-pass, it becomes a viable option to run events there, with Amsterdam as a logical choice. With the possibility of events running at ⅔ of capacity and with the infrastructure present, Riot Games may decide to go to Amsterdam, or Rotterdam being another option, as they’ve hosted events for Dreamhack in the past.

Chances are we won’t be seeing Madrid this time around like we did back in 2019, with the COVID-19 pandemic and Delta variant not under control in Spain as of yet.
