ZywOo leads Vitality against BIG, G2 knock out Virtus.pro
As the DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 series nears knockout stages, the group leaders are not far from being decided.
ZywOo leads Vitality to the lower finals
After initially being eliminated by Complexity, Vitality are on the precipice of completing their lower bracket run with a win over BIG. The French roster has seen countless setbacks in 2021, but this 2-0 contest was a return to form of sorts for the lineup.
Irradicably tied to Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut’s performance, Vitality finally has begun finding previous success through their star fragger’s ability. ZywOo ended the two map series with 53 total frags, eclipsing anyone on BIG’s roster, and 106.3 ADR. Averaging an incredible 1.73 player rating, Vitality will have to string together another win to make the knockouts cutoff. If Vitality can maintain their current play, this certainly is not out of the question.
G2 drops Virtus.pro, NiKo shines
In a year largely led by CIS teams, Virtus.pro has led the charge, however in the lower finals were stopped dead in their tracks by G2.
G2 started the series on Vertigo finding mixed results as they ended their T-side 10-5, but ultimately rallied with a 9 round winstreak. Inferno was a much more decisive affair for G2 as 13-2 start eventually led to a series win.
G2’s IGL, Nikola “NiKo” Kovac, ended the tight series with 54 total kills, 113.2 ADR, and an impressive 80% KAST, having an impact in virtually every round of the series.
Furia edge out Complexity
In a tight series, Furia managed to defeat Complexity in a close 2-0 series to face Vitality tomorrow. Though only two maps long, these games featuring quite long games as Furia took the first game in OT 19-17. Though Furia maintained a healthy lead in Inferno, Complexity still managed to put up a fight despite the ultimate 16-11 final.
Complexity’s Dane, Benjamin “blameF” Bremer, had an outstanding performance despite the loss as he accrued 59 total kills. Seeing unprecedented success in 2021, Furia will have to get past the surging Vitality to advance to knockouts.
